There are several solutions to help with this problem, the most common is to freeze a pane in Excel so that some data is always visible no matter how far you scroll in your spreadsheet. An alternative way is to work in Excel in different windows with their own scroll bar.

Freeze an area

When you freeze panes, the Excel window is divided into two parts, a corner and a rectangle:

  1. The fixed area is the first line. In this case, all columns will scroll.
  2. The fixed area is the first column. All lines will scroll accordingly.
  3. Combined option. I have the most common option, I usually fix the top line and the first few columns.

The second method is window splitting. In this case, the entire program window is divided into four parts, each with its own scroll bar, although not entirely independent. For example, the top left window can have different columns from the top right window, but must have the same rows. Accordingly, they may have different lines with the lower left, but the same columns. But in the end, you will be able to work in an Excel document in different windows.
The instructions are simple - you need to select the cell whose upper left corner is the boundary between areas and execute the command View/Window/Split .

Required row

In order to attach a header to an Excel table, which is located in an arbitrary place on the sheet, we will do the following. Now click on the button "To fix areas" and select the item of the same name from the drop-down menu.

As you can see, when scrolling through the table, the pinned header remains in place.

Required column

In order to fix the first column for the entered data, which is not in A, select the adjacent one - in the example it is D. Now click on the button "To fix areas".

You can make sure that when you swipe to the right, C stays in place.

Fast way

To anchor the first column and row in a table, select the cell that is immediately below their intersection: in the example, D4. Then click on the button we are already familiar with. Horizontal lines will appear to indicate the locked area.

How to delete

If you need to delete a frozen area in Excel, click the button "To fix areas". In the drop-down list you will see that now at the very top there is “Unlock…”, click on it.
