Is it possible to play Skyrim with a friend? Tamriel Online - Skyrim LAN Multiplayer Update required? Connecting to the server

Skyrim is one of the most popular role-playing games and computer games in general today. Its huge, vast open world, through which you can move absolutely calmly, and no obstacles in the form of invisible walls or any restrictions will appear in front of you, its incredible leveling system, which allows you to make your character a fighter of absolutely any direction, its amazing a storyline that will take you at least a hundred hours to complete, and at no point will you get bored - all this makes this project one of the best in the history of game development.

However, it has a small drawback - it does not have a multiplayer mode, meaning you will not be able to play with people online. Naturally, with such a great single-player mode, the lack of multiplayer cannot be considered a full-fledged disadvantage, but still, many gamers would not refuse to play together with their friends. But don't worry, playing Skyrim online is possible - you just have to try hard. You can always find a way out, and the fans did this by creating a special modification. Its capabilities are, of course, limited at the moment, but the fact that you can now play Skyrim online remains a fact. Now you just need to find out exactly how to do it.

Preparation

So, if you want to play Skyrim online, then you need to prepare for it. You must have a single-player client installed on your computer, for which you need to download a modification from the Internet that will allow you to try out the online mode. If you have not yet installed the game, then you can download an already modified version from the Internet, which will be much easier. You also need to download and install a special program that allows you to simulate a LAN network connection. There are quite a few such programs - the most popular among them are Tunngle, Hamachi and Evolve. This is special software that allows you to create a kind of local network, even though you can be at a great distance from other players. When everything you need is installed on your computer, you can move on to the next stage, which will bring you closer to trying out what playing Skyrim online is like.

Starting the game

Well, you have both a modified game client and a local network simulator installed on your computer. How to play Skyrim online? To do this, you need to go into the simulator program and create a room there, which will become a kind of local network. There you can invite your friends with whom you plan to play. Here you can launch any game and enjoy it with friends online, but now we are talking about Skyrim. The second step is to directly launch the game. After which you will need to create your own server. This is the most difficult part of the process, but if you want to learn how to play Skyrim online, then you will have to master it.

Working with IP

Many gamers dreamed that the Skyrim Online project would appear, many were waiting for the release of a separate multiplayer, but all hopes were in vain. Therefore, all you have to do now is use this method. To create your own server, where you can then invite your friends, you first need to figure out the IP address, because it will be the key in the whole process. You need to find out your address, and there are several ways to do this. Firstly, this can be done through the command line, in which you need to enter the ipconfig command. A decent amount of data will appear, among which you need to find the ipv4 line, which will contain your address, which will be needed to play online. You can also use one of the Internet services for this, of which there are more than enough now. In addition, you can create an IP for online play yourself - using a simulator program, if your version has a similar function. So, when you already have a ready-made address, you can create Skyrim Online yourself, without the help of developers.

Creating a server

It is worth noting that using a simulator program, of course, is only necessary if there is no local network between your computer and your friends’ computers. The likelihood of having such a network, of course, is extremely low, because now they have already gone out of fashion - such networks, stretched between several and sometimes dozens of houses in one area, were popular in the early 2000s. Now they can be found mainly only in office premises, and even then not always, because the Internet connection in speed and quality is now not much inferior to the local network. But if we return to the topic, now comes the most important moment. With your IP address in hand, you go to your game folder and open a file called TamrielOnline.ini (as a text document). There you need to find a line with the text connectionip=127.0.0.1 - instead of these numbers you need to enter your IP address. After this, launch the game (if it has not already been launched) and load your character (or create a new one, but this takes a lot of time, and your friends are waiting, so it’s better to take care of creating characters in advance). After your character loads, click on the Home button, which will create your character where you can play with friends. The guide to launching Skyrim over the network can be considered complete. One detail remains - how can your friends connect to the server you created?

Connecting to the server

In fact, the process is practically no different from the previous file. To play Skyrim over a local network, you still need to open the TamrielOnline.ini file and change the IP address in it to the one that the person creating the server gives you. Then you start the game, load your character and press the Home button. Instead of creating a new server, you connect to an existing one, and you can start playing together.

Peculiarities

Do not think that this modification is a miracle that creates a full-fledged multiplayer for such a large-scale game. At the moment, the possibilities in the mod are limited, and you cannot do everything that you can in a single-player game, but the project is constantly developing and adding new functions.

Tamriel Online- a multiplayer modification for the game The Elder Scrolls V. In foreign networks, this mod is called Tamriel Online. At the moment, it has synchronization for the main elements of the game, as well as a cooperative mode.

Latest version:
Tamriel Online v2.4.1 (08/20/2016)
You may have noticed that all previous versions were unstable and often simply did not work. Now the synchronization of players works quite well, but with a large concentration of NPCs around, glitches may occur.

List of changes:
- Synchronization of quests. Previously, synchronization was based on the use of console commands, which was quite unstable. In this version, quests are filtered and only those that players are currently completing are synchronized. After receiving a quest, its objectives will be completed sequentially until they reach their logical conclusion.

NPC synchronization. This stage of development is the most difficult and takes a lot of time. What really needs to be achieved is stability. To this end, basic interpolation has been added in an attempt to relieve some of the stress on the server. In addition, NPCs will now update much more frequently as the player moves closer or further away from them. The update occurs in a staggered manner, with the least amount of time spent, so that the client has time to build a small list of NPCs that are currently in visibility.

Synchronization of time and weather. Bugs that were incorrectly assigning a player as a server host have been fixed.

The mod now uses a different launch method, which should fix problems with its launch. Now there should be no problems at all with synchronizing your appearance and clothes. Work on improving stability will continue in future versions, provided that this one shows fewer problems than all previous ones.

Introduction

Tamriel Online is another attempt to add co-op mode to Skyrim, and it's quite successful.

This NOT an MMO mod. It is NOT designed for multi-thousands of simultaneous players.

Skyrim is a wonderful world that would be even more interesting to explore with a couple of good friends. The creator of the mod is based on this principle.

You can play with or without other mods.

Installation instructions

Installing and launching the client

1. Copy the contents of the “client” folder to the game directory.

2. Open the TamrielOnline.ini file (in the game directory) and in the line connectionip= 127.0.0.1 change the IP address to the address of the selected server or person with whom we want to play. (for example, the "official" test Russian server: 46.39.224.200 Port: 5005 (If necessary)).

3. Launch the game via skse_loader.exe, load any save and press the Home button on the keyboard, after which you will be connected to the specified server.

Installing and starting the host (LAN server)

1. Install the “client” as described above (except for changing the ip, skip this step), and install the “Server” using the same principle.

2. Tell your IP to the person you want to play with.

Installing and starting a host (WAN server)

1. Follow the standard LAN server setup, but this time specify WAN IP rather than LAN IP.

2.If you do not know your WAN IP, follow this LINK.

3. Port 1283.

Installing and launching the client (for WAN server)

1. Follow the standard client installation, but this time specify WAN IP rather than LAN IP.

Instructions for determining your LAN IP:

1. Press Win+R, an input line will open.

2. Write the command cmd, the command line will open.

3. Enter the ipconfig command, there will be a list of your basic network settings. You need the IPv4 line, opposite it will be your IP (save it).

FROM Localizer.

Basic abbreviations:

WAN server is a dedicated global server that can be accessed by anyone in the world.

A LAN server is a local, closed server to which only people to whom you have indicated your IP can join you (in theory, the same thing happens with a WAN server, but the LAN server provides a more stable connection, without “intermediaries”).

- Please do not forget that all global servers operate in test mode and do not contain full functionality.

- Also, please do not forget that this mod is still far from complete and problems may arise.

Requirements:

Skyrim 1.9.32.0.8+

SKYUI 5.1 ( optional)

All of the above requirements required for installation !

Removal: delete files from Skyrim and Data folders.

Tamriel online is an online mod for Skyrim that allows you to play the game with friends. The mod was created for the purpose of cooperative play with or without mods. This is not an MMO! modification. It is in no way intended for playing “over 1000+” players on one server. The author of this mod believes that Skyrim is a wonderful game that will become much more exciting when played cooperatively with friends. Tamriel online will allow you to interact with each other as much as possible. In order to set up your server locally or through a dedicated server, you need to run the Tamriel Online Server software. Accordingly, to connect to a friend - “Tamriel Online Client”.
Instructions: how to play Skyrim in co-op (server creation)

3. Find out your IP address using one of the methods described below:
a). Press the key combination “Win” + “R”. Enter the command “cmd”. Enter the command “ipconfig” into the console
b). We go to the 2ip website and look in the column - your IP address.
4. Open the TamrielOnline.ini file with notepad and enter your IP address in the “connectionip=” line.
5. Launch the game server itself via TamrielOnline_Live_Server.exe
6. Launch Skyrim, create/load a game character.
7. Press the “Home” button on your keyboard - at this point the game should connect to your server itself.

Instructions: how to play Skyrim in co-op (connect to a server)

1. To play skyrim online, you need to install the game itself.
2. Next, download the archive containing the client and server files (the mod itself), and unpack it into the game folder.
3. Find out the IP address of the server you are going to connect to.
4. Open the TamrielOnline.ini file with notepad and enter the server’s ip address in the “connectionip=” line.
5. Launch the game (make sure that you have the in-game scripts extension installed, and also install Script Dragon - the “bin” folder and the “pluginsrc” folder need to be dragged into the game folder).
6. Create\upload a character.
7. Press the “Home” button on your keyboard - at this point the game should connect to your friend’s server.

A few notes about this Skyrim mod for online play:

1. The mod is still under development, you should not expect it to be fully functional without bugs.
2. If the server does not have an external IP address, or is under NAT, you can always use programs such as Hamachi, Tungle, Evolve, etc.
3. The mod requires opening port 1283.
4. At the moment, Tamriel online cannot synchronize the position of NPCs. This means that your friend will have a dragon flying nearby when you cannot see this dragon.
5. Currently the following game parameters are synchronized:
Character positions (yours and your friend's)
Player turns in the world
Quick transition (moving in a cart between cities)
Armor sets
The weapon in your hands
Body composition of your characters
Running, jumping, walking, stealth mode.
Combat animation
On my own behalf I would like to say that at this stage it is already possible play skyrim with a friend and get a lot of new impressions from it.
In the next update of the mod, the author promised to write synchronization between game characters (NPCs).
For quick access to information and subsequent updates, the mod page will be added to the right side menu.

Solving some technical problems of the mod:

Problem: I have a laptop and there is no Home button.
Solution: Change the Home key code (“key=0x24”) in the TamrielOnline.ini file to any other key code.

Problem: My character doesn't sync on other computers.
Solution: Double check that your firewall is not blocking outgoing UDP traffic. Just because the firewall is disabled will not prevent you from being blocked.

Problem: I can't recognize characters in chat
Solution: Same as the previous problem - “Double check that your firewall is not blocking outgoing UDP traffic. Just because the firewall is disabled will not prevent you from being blocked." Also make sure that your friend’s outgoing traffic is not blocked.

Problem: I have constant crashes, the game closes/crashes.
Solution: This may be caused by your ENB filters. When you press "Home" some ENBs enter framelimiting mode. To resolve this issue, change the Home key "key=0x24" to something else in the "TamrielOnline.ini" file
Glitches may also be the cause of selecting objects/NPCs/etc. ... in the console window. It is recommended to stop using the console AT ALL!

Problem: I'm getting a "failed to connect" message when trying to connect to a server in Skyrim Online.
Solution: Make sure your firewall/antivirus is not blocking Skyrim, SKSE or TamrielOnline.asi. If you cannot connect to the public server, try installing everything again.

Problem: When you press the "Home" button, nothing happens.
Solution: Make sure you are running the game with administrator rights via SKSE. Check that both “TamrielOnline.asi” and “ScriptDragon.dll” files are not blocked. Make sure that all files from the archive are installed and that you have fulfilled all the requirements listed at the top of the page.

Problem: I'm having trouble connecting through port forwarding.
Solution: Try using Hamachi. Make sure each person has Hamachi, you are connected to each other via Hamachi, and everyone (except the host) is using Hamachi IP addresses in their "TamrielOnline.ini" settings. In this case, the server can leave its IP as standard - “127.0.0.1”.

Problem: Duplicates of my character appear, or my actions are “mirrored.”
Solution: Double check your server settings and make sure "testing" is set to "false". If the problem persists, then most likely the error is known, but it does not yet have a solution. In the meantime, you can try connecting through another computer or Internet connection.

Problem: Clones of players appear.
Solution: This error occurs when people close Skyrim without disconnecting from the game. To get rid of clones, you can use the "markfordelete" command in the console.

Problem: I can't exit a book, I can't hear the dialogue, or my menus are messed up.
Solution: Try opening and closing the console once. This happens when the server has "canpause=false" set.

Problem: The game crashes when trying to connect to the server
Solution: You need to restart the server before downloading a new one.
