Samsung Galaxy C7 smartphones. Samsung Galaxy C5 - Specifications

Samsung is one of the world's most famous brands and best manufacturers. The company is famous for its reliable home appliances and electronics. The lion's share of the market is occupied by the production of smartphones, from flagships to more inexpensive models.

Over the past 5 years, manufacturers have been churning out mobile phones at warp speed. If we compare it with the 2000s, when new products were released once a year, now devices are announced every three to four months. In the case of such large representatives as Samsung, this is not surprising, because the name already speaks of the wild popularity of the models, which occupy first places in the ranking of quality products.

The release of a new and budget model, the J6+, in mid-September 2018 was no exception. In appearance and characteristics it is similar to the more expensive A6, but they are distinguished by a metal body and protection index. This review will be devoted to a detailed analysis of the latest gadget - Samsung Galaxy J6 plus.

The phone belongs to the basic series - J, but nevertheless, despite the economy class, the manufacturers have placed a good camera with decent stabilization, a capacious battery and average hardware performance in a fairly durable case. The color scheme is more picturesque and consists of three colors: gray, black and red.

Detailed characteristics of the model are presented in the table:

Samsung Galaxy J6 plus

Equipment

The device and its components are packaged in a thick cardboard box in a regular blue color with the Samsung logo depicted at the very top. In the center is the model name in large white font. The design is minimalistic, typical of the company. But the minimalism trend was set by Apple Corporation. The back of the durable packaging contains the model code and additional information from the manufacturer in small letters.

Under the brochures with instructions in several languages there is a plastic monoblock that is pleasant to the touch. Below it is a card with a clip for the SIM carriage.

The phone comes with a charger - EB -PG950 with a USB type C cable and an adapter to Micro USB. The length of the adapter cord is 1 meter. Surprisingly, there are no headphones included. Although the headset, even the simplest one, was not included in even the most popular and inexpensive smartphone models from various manufacturers. For some reason Samsung was stingy.

Appearance

The smartphone may be a budget series, but the design of the candy bar is representative and unusual. The matte and velvet body combined with cool glass is pleasant to hold in your hand. Thanks to the proper placement of buttons and sensor, the phone can be operated with one hand, and by the way, it does not slip out of your hands. As written above, the model is available in three colors: black (obsidian), red and silver-gray. The bright red device has collected a large number of positive reviews.

Almost the entire front panel is occupied by the display, separated by two thin side frames. At the top there is a speaker in the center, a flash on the right and a selfie camera lens on the left.

The main camera module and fingerprint sensor are shifted to the upper half of the rear panel. There is a flash located on the side of the lens and scanner. In the center is the company name, a font with an iridescent effect.

The unlock button and the main speaker are on the right side, a single carriage for the SIM card and adjacent to the memory card is on the left side. The volume control is also located there. At the top there is a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack, and at the bottom there is a microphone and a microUSB port.

Screen

A colorful display with a SuperAMOLED matrix takes up about 80% of the front panel. Diagonal – 6.0 inches with a good resolution – 1480 × 720. The image is generally of high quality, but cool. Some complained about blurry details in the images.

Color rendition is good, viewing angles pleased us. No distortion of black and white colors when rotating the phone. This quality is ensured by the SuperAMOLED matrix.

The settings menu is standard, with only two types: color temperature and color saturation. There are no filters or special palettes, like popular and analogue models from Xiaomi. There is also no automatic brightness and white balance adjustment, so for the display to be readable in the sun, it will have to be adjusted manually.

For comfortable viewing in the dark, there is a convenient setting called Blue Light. It reduces the balance of blue light brightness, and the screen does not hurt the eyes when viewed at night.

Hardware functionality

A smartphone in the mid-price segment is unlikely to boast of powerful hardware. But, nevertheless, the fast quad-core processor - Qualcomm Snapdragon 425, combined with 4 GB of RAM, is well suited for medium-power games and various applications.

The performance is positively affected by a modern graphics chip - Adreno 308, for good image transfer speed. I was pleased with the presence of two SIM cards; there will be no urgent need to choose an SD card or two SIM cards. Additional memory can be increased up to 128 GB, which is quite good with the built-in 64 GB.

When testing the device for games and programs, messengers, there were no glitches or slowdowns. The smart didn't even warm up. At low settings it is not bad even for active games.

The fingerprint sensor takes a long time to recognize, although even cheaper phones come with a fast-response scanner. Face recognition is a generally useless function in this model, since it works even slower in the light, and does not recognize it at all in the dark.

In terms of hardware, this device is not for gamers and lovers of heavy graphics applications. Like any basic segment, the model will not satisfy their selection criteria. Therefore, before asking the question: which model is better to buy, and in order not to make a mistake with the choice, you need to pay attention to the series and number of the gadget.

Software and interface

The smartphone runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system; an early update to 9.0 Pie was predicted. The latest Samsung Experience 9.0 shell is built in. The system works great, the preinstallation is clean, without any software junk.

The UX design is quite welcoming, although a little old. In principle, the external shells are not very different from each other. The same icons, font, even the color scheme of the screensavers is identical.

By 2018, it became fashionable to integrate an additional application into the phone that controls gestures. And Samsung also distinguished itself by introducing this feature into its models. Therefore, there is no need to buy this program.

Despite the presence of NFC (wireless communication standard), the ability to pay with Samsung Pay is unfortunately not available. On the other hand, such a function is not possible in all cities.

Camera

Photomodules are the strong point of this monoblock. Manufacturers have tried to fit a high-quality camera with good stabilization into an inexpensive phone. You can take pictures calmly, without fear of a trembling hand.

The rear camera with a 13-megapixel module and depth of field is 2.0, creates decent photographs in good and low light. Thanks to the wide viewing angle of 85 degrees, you can capture more objects. Autofocus is fast, resulting in clear details.

When shooting at night, the quality of photos deteriorates due to decreased sharpness and blur. The pictures come out blurry and with noise.

Example photo during the day:

How to photograph at night:

How does the front camera take photos? With 8-megapixels you can't do much, but you can take good selfies. Ideal for video calls. In the absence of light, focusing also drops and detail is disrupted.

Three main settings in the photo menu: beauty, panoramic and professional. There is also a mode for shooting in low light and moving objects. Video shooting in HDR mode is available. Frame rate per second – 30 fps at 1080.

Autonomy

The monoblock has a fairly capacious 3500 mAh battery EB-PG950. Unfortunately, there is no fast or wireless charging option. But in mid-range and budget Samsung models, you can hardly find a wireless adapter. Therefore, if you need an inexpensive smartphone with energy replenishment not from a direct network, then before you figure out which company is better, you need to familiarize yourself with various offers and reviews of other devices.

The battery holds energy decently. Without heavy load, the autonomy lasts for two days – these are calls and SMS. Average load – music and Internet, the phone will work without recharging for a little more than a day. With continuous video viewing – 18 hours.

The energy saving mode works automatically at 15% charge and below. With economical consumption, file transfer slows down, there are no vibrations during calls and the processor's operation is limited.

Sound

High quality speakers work well. At maximum volume the sound is clear and not distorted. You can safely watch videos without headphones at medium volume. Convenient equalizer settings and also a palette of sounds: rock, rap, pop, opera and disco.

In the headphones, the music plays just as loudly, and the sound is not distorted, there is no usual wheezing of bass, creaking of the upper and lower boundaries. Of course, the quality also depends on the headset itself. There is no 3D immersion function; usually inexpensive models do not have it.

What is the price?

Manufacturers have set the price for the Galaxy J6 plus at $250. Justified cost for a high-quality, albeit budget device. The model is focused on the former CIS countries, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania.

The phones will arrive in Russia in early October at an average price of 18,700 rubles. There is no exact answer yet to the question of where it is profitable to buy. Each seller will set their own price and terms of purchase.

There is still the opportunity to order the gadget from the official website, however, the shipping price may exceed the surcharge in the store. This needs to be taken into account.

Advantages and disadvantages

Before choosing a suitable phone, it is advisable to familiarize yourself with its strengths and weaknesses. But you need to remember that you shouldn’t expect miracles from a non-flagship device.

Advantages:

  • Stylish monoblock;
  • Fits well in the hand and does not slip;
  • Ergonomic;
  • Variety of colors;
  • Ability to insert an SD card with two SIM cards;
  • Justifiable price;
  • Medium filling;
  • Decent photomodules;
  • Clean software, no glitches;
  • Capacious and long-lasting battery;
  • Loud sound and convenient equalizer.

Flaws:

  • Plastic body;
  • Marked glass;
  • No protection against water;
  • The fingerprint sensor and facial recognition take a long time to respond;
  • Night photo and video shooting of low quality;
  • Non-removable battery and lack of fast and wireless charging.

Who is this device for? It is perfect for inexperienced users. Model averaged over all parameters. But it is not lacking in quality. Many complain about the appearance, screen size and hardware, comparing them with budget Xiaomi. The only question is how long it will last, as everyone has long known about the durability of Samsung, which began to be produced on a par with Nokia.

One of the main disadvantages is slow sensors that could not be installed. Previously, we managed without them. And so is their uselessness, well, it’s true, it takes a long time to wait for his answer when you just typed in the password and it worked instantly.

There are no more complaints against him. Is your camera bad at night? There are few mid-price models with high-quality night photography. The hardware can handle almost all games, although the more powerful the game, the lower the settings need to be built in. In general, the games are average. In any case, the model will find its buyer, because not everyone wants to buy a gaming phone or a portable camera.

Introduction

In 2016, Samsung launched a new line of Galaxy C smartphones. Smartphones in this series were developed specifically for the Chinese market and are unlikely to be officially presented in other countries. At least, this is the case today, and enough time has passed since the release in June 2016. The C series devices in Samsung's lineup are somewhere between the A and S series and have both the characteristics of premium models and the disadvantages of the company's budget smartphones. When ordering a Samsung Galaxy C5 from China, you must remember that due to the fact that the devices are intended for sale in the Chinese market, the Android operating system version 6.0 pre-installed on them does not have Google applications, including the Play Market application store. The situation is saved by the presence of official firmware for Hong Kong, which is no different from the firmware installed on smartphones sold around the world and has everything necessary for normal operation.

Design, appearance of the device

Samsung Galaxy C5 is a candy bar made of metal and glass. It is available in several color options: Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, Dark Gray. With a screen diagonal of 5.2 inches, the smartphone has dimensions of 145.9 x 72 x 6.7 mm, which makes it one of the most compact smartphones with similar screen sizes. The glass has rounded edges, the so-called 2.5D, and a high-quality oleophobic coating. Samsung says the glass is scratch-resistant, but the company could not provide more details about the manufacturer or type of glass used. Let's hope that it is made using technology similar to Gorilla Glass or Dragontrail.

At the top there are: a front camera, an earpiece grille, proximity/light sensors and an LED event indicator. The indicator is exactly what the model borrowed from its more expensive counterparts, as well as the fingerprint scanner. This time the Home key is flush with the surface of the front panel, which is not only beautiful, but also practical, because It is made of plastic and can be scratched easily. The rear panel is completely metal, with the exception of the antenna splitters. On it there is a slightly protruding camera lens, an LED flash and a Samsung logo pressed into the metal. At the top end we see only the microphone of the noise reduction system. On the left are the volume control keys, and on the right is the power key and a tray for SIM cards and a memory card (the memory card is installed instead of the second SIM card). The keys are pressed pleasantly and elastically, although there is a barely noticeable play that does not cause discomfort. At the bottom end there are: a 3.5 headphone jack, a microphone, a Micro USB connector and a speaker grille.

The smartphone looks very harmonious and, thanks to the materials used and build quality, is expensive. Due to its relatively light weight and thin thickness, it is pleasant to hold in your hands. Personally, I get true aesthetic pleasure from this smartphone.

Display

The smartphone is equipped with a Super AMOLED display with a diagonal of 5.2 mm and a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, which gives a density of 424 pixels per inch. The picture is of high quality, easy to read in the sun, the colors are bright and rich. It is possible to customize color rendering. However, as is often the case with AMOLEDs, it is not always possible to maintain a uniform white color. On my copy, the white color “walks” slightly from the top to the bottom of the screen. But this is only if you look closely. The Full HD screen resolution is enough to not notice the pixelation of the image and, at the same time, save battery power. In my opinion, with such a diagonal, a higher resolution would be unnecessary.

Adaptive brightness control works adequately and does not attract attention to itself.

The touch keys located under the screen are backlit, but, unfortunately, there is no vibration response when pressed, as in younger Samsung models.

The Samsung Galaxy C5 has a Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 2600 mAh, which at first glance may seem insufficient. However, a relatively modest processor, coupled with an economical Super AMOLED display and adequate screen resolution, allows the device to work 24 hours under average load. If you don’t play power-hungry games, you won’t need to charge your smartphone during the day. And in case you use your smartphone to its fullest, there is Adaptive Fast Charging technology, with which you can charge it very quickly.

Performance

One of the weak points of this smartphone is the pair of Snapdragon 617 processor installed in it and the relatively outdated Adreno 405 graphics chip. Despite this, with eight cores, the processor ensures reliable operation of the interface and most applications. This is facilitated by as much as 4 gigabytes of RAM. In the AnTuTu benchmark, the Galaxy C5 scored 45,200 points. This is quite enough for the average user, but if you like to play modern 3D games, then perhaps you should pay attention to more powerful platforms.

Camera

Modern technologies today have reached a level where even budget smartphones produce acceptable shooting quality. The competitive moment has shifted to more complex matters, shooting at night, manual mode capabilities, etc. The Galaxy C5 has a 16-megapixel camera with autofocus, but without optical stabilization. And here we took a little bite so that it wouldn’t be too good. Samsung is very afraid of internal competition between its models. Photos in good lighting turn out excellent, color rendition is quite reliable. In poor lighting, unfortunately, it is immediately noticeable that this camera is far from being a flagship. Let me give you some examples of photographs taken in different conditions.

Officially, the C-series of smartphones from Samsung is not imported to Russia. Their habitat is the east. China, Hong Kong. In India, it seems, they also come across them. But not with us.

However, they are not difficult to buy. There are small stores in the world that quite successfully bring them to us.

A little bit of software that is familiar to every Chinese... WeChat, Weibo, the rest of the names are actually in hieroglyphs. Not scary. They were thoughtfully placed in one folder. And they didn’t nail it down. I just stupidly deleted everything.

A couple of folders have hieroglyphs in their names. In one software from MicroSoft - I can also demolish it. The second contains standard “tools” - a calculator, a radio... Should we rename it or leave it that way?..

In general, that’s all with hieroglyphs. No... Singles will still come out in some places. Plus in the "yellow pages" that is in the dialer. Plus news headlines in Bixby (and the news itself will refuse to work at all). Plus some native software from Samsung (Samsung Video, S Assistant). At the same time, let’s say, there are no problems with Samsung Health or “Secure Folder”, everything is in Russian.

Although, of course, it's a mess. If a smartphone is purely for your domestic market, why does it have a full range of languages? And if you install other languages, well, you’re Samsung. Is it difficult to make those who are not familiar with hieroglyphs feel comfortable?

Panic? Almost. I go to settings and look at the list of applications. I see "Google Play Services" there. Those. After all, Google exists on a smartphone in some form.

Fine. Where can I get Play Market? It's not in the Samsung store. Search online?

I stupidly take another smartphone. I think it was Huawei Honor 6C Pro. I launch the file editor Total Commmander. It has a wonderful property. If you have something installed on your smartphone, it allows you to get the installation apk file for that something. Naturally, the Play Market was installed on Honor. Well, then you just need to transfer this apk file to and launch it.

Voila. It launched, installed, and required Google account information. All! More - no problems! Any software is at your service, including those you previously purchased. And Youtube can be downloaded, and in general everything you need. Well, in addition, contacts were immediately synchronized.

By the way, once you installed the Play Market, you can see if the smartphone is certified by Google. That's right, not certified. For what? It's for the Chinese market.

Battery

Battery capacity - 3000 mAh. A typical average battery these days.

Battery tests gave 152% of my conditional standard. Not bad? Fine. If you look closely at the plate, it becomes clear that the screen is indeed very economical. But the iron is not very good.
