• a computer
• null modem cable

I will flash through the RS-232 port (COM port), so you need to use a null modem cable, you can buy it or make it yourself, as described in detail in. If you have a laptop or a computer that does not have an RS-232 connector, then you can buy an adapter cable from USB to COM port and connect the receiver to the USB port of a laptop or computer. After downloading, unpack and install the DRE Burner flasher on your computer. Turn off the power of the receiver (from the outlet, or the button on the back panel) and connect the computer and the receiver with a null modem cable. The RS-232 port is also located on the rear panel of the receiver, on the computer it is located in the back of the system unit, where the connectors of the system board are connected.

After the receiver and PC are connected, run the previously installed firmware DRE Burner on the computer. You should see the following window:

Now the flasher needs to specify where the firmware file is located. To do this, click “Open File” and specify the path to the place where you have it stored on the disk:

After the path is specified, and the program has found the firmware, click on the button “Upload” and then turn on the power of the receiver.

After turning on the power, the firmware will start automatically; you can observe its process in the flasher window and on the receiver's indicator, which is located on the front panel. Now you just need to wait for the end of the firmware process.

Attention!!! In no case do not turn off the power of the receiver during the firmware, this will lead to the failure of the receiver, and will require great effort to restore it!

You can learn about the end of the firmware after the appearance of the red “Completed” inscription. Only after the appearance of this inscription, we close the DRE Burner flasher by pressing the “Exit” button.

Everything, the receiver's software has been updated, we can verify this by clicking on the “Status” button on the remote control and looking at the line Software version: It will show the version of the firmware we downloaded, in my case 3.0.32. This firmware is also suitable for receivers DRE-5000, DRE-7300, GS-7300, DRS-5001, DRS-5003.

Features of this firmware:

Past releases

The procedure is quite simple and does not require special skills from subscribers; you just need to follow the instructions for replacing the software from the information channel. The update process takes some time and you need to be patient and wait for the end. But despite all the warnings, some users do not wait until the end of the software update process and as a result the receiver stops working.

  Software update from PC.

1. We acquire / solder ourselves null modem cable

3. We connect the RS232 input of the receiver to the COM port on the computer.

4. Turn on the computer.

For DRE 4000, DRE 5001, DRE 7300, the process is similar.

This means that the software installation process is over, you must turn off the console and disconnect the RS232 cable. It is desirable to carry out all actions with connecting and disconnecting the wires with a de-energized computer and a prefix.

The process of flashing from a USB flash drive

If you have a modern Tricolor receiver and your set-top box has a USB connector, you can make software firmware bypassing all wired connections, that is, directly. It is important that the update process is only possible with a working receiver. If your prefix after an unsuccessful update, or for some other reason has ceased to turn on, this method will not help you, it is necessary to make firmware through the COM port.

The update process is to find the latest firmware on the site and download it to your computer. Unzip the file and write it to a USB flash drive formatted in FAT 32. Insert the USB flash drive into the appropriate slot and turn on the Tricolor receiver. After switching on, the software shell will detect the USB flash drive, find the latest software on the media and start the automatic firmware.
