Weigh the Pros and Cons
The great advantage here is the best and free time. The disadvantage is simply the high price and relatively low utility. Obviously, this display is better suited for shooting, but you pay more for a smaller function. In my opinion, my composition has more advantages than disadvantages.
Do you also use monitors, tablets or smartphones on your camera to take pictures or take pictures? It has an excellent display, can be flexibly located. And it is primarily mobile. Clicking a tandem, I had to try it. In this case, driver installation is hardly necessary. In the end, the desktop application also provides the Delete Duet command in the Settings menu. At this stage, I am faced with completely unexpected difficulties.
While the Windows version worked without comment, after installing iDisplay on Mac OS X (by the way, the installation requires a reboot), I ran into an amazing “bug” —Drag-and-Drop stops working on the laptop. Yes Yes! You can grab something, but you can not let go.
Correspondence with customer support allowed me to find out the reason for this amazing effect - only MacBooks and Nvidia switchable graphics (9400M / 9600M GT) are subject to it. When installing an alternative video driver in any version of Mac OS X, this is an amazing problem.
Fortunately, there was a simple solution - it’s enough to put the system into sleep mode for a second - and the problem miraculously disappears (until the next reboot). Perhaps, this bug does not drag on the feature, but, alas, I did not find any solutions.
In the system settings of monitors you configure the second screen. You can position it to the right or left of the main screen and expand the display accordingly. It also works, but a bit jerky - and I have the best intention, no application comes to mind where mirroring can be useful. This can be done using the “Show Events” command on the second monitor or in the view mode on the second monitor in the window menu.
Clips on the tablet in any case the best. To work with ordinary applications, you need very thin fingers. But, for example, the launch of programs from the docking station is no problem. The configuration is the same as with the “real” second monitor. This is the most universal solution because it is compatible with almost all operating systems that we can rely on our hardware.
Unlike the Windows version, which hides in the tray and, apart from a small menu, is unremarkable, the Mac version is more beautiful and comfortable. In particular, there is a separate window with performance settings and even an icon of the device that is currently connected.
