Timelines, which let you see the time. Review of services for creating beautiful timelines: features and operating principles Paths of development of the peoples of Russia

Those who did not happen to study at school during the period of widespread computerization may well have drawn timelines on paper. The author of this article was a participant in similar experiments: several squared sheets from a notebook were glued together for 2 kopecks to form a ribbon. A horizontal timeline was drawn below A I am a scale, ten cells - a century. For each significant event, a vertical line was drawn, above which the name of the event was written and its date was affixed, or even an icon symbolizing the event was drawn. I must say that this activity was not only interesting, but also very useful. Its disadvantages were the need to erase some drawings in order to place others, and the redoing of individual fragments several times.

Those who had access to computers at school may have completed similar tasks in one or another graphics editor. On a computer it is easy to set scrolling along time O th scale. Temporary A The scale can be linear, and extended events can be compared without distortion; It is sometimes more convenient to display events on a logarithmic scale, since the number of events relevant to their contemporaries is always greater in the recent past than in centuries past. The scale can also be scaled, as shown in Fig. 1.

Rice. 1. Scalable scale diagram

As the red line moves, the number of years displayed changes according to a hyperbolic law, that is, instead of scrolling, a change in time is available O th period displayed on the screen.

Today, for schoolchildren, students and all those who want to present a chain of historical events in the form of a timeline, a large arsenal of specialized tools is offered - Timeline Software. In this article we will primarily consider projects aimed at visualizing time s x historical processes, and to a lesser extent - tools for automating the linking of business tasks to time O th scale. This topic can be classified as timelines, but has other accents and therefore deserves a separate discussion.

Tools for creating timelines can be divided into offline and online, that is, those that allow you to develop a project directly on the Internet. Recently, extensive resources have appeared on the Internet regarding the creation of timelines, as well as ready-made projects where you can glean interesting information useful when creating your own projects. How to choose the optimal tool for developing a Timeline project and where to find information on the Internet will be discussed in this article.

Offline timeline tools

Therefore, using the program, in addition to linear chronological feeds, you can create chains of objects or even closed cycles made up of objects.

Rice. 9. Timeliner XE program interface

A quick start when creating a project thanks to templates makes this product in demand among users who do not have access to complex multimedia creation tools. The built-in web browser for searching information on the Internet allows you to find the necessary objects without leaving the project.

Excel

OS: Windows

Excel, as you know, is not a specialized tool for creating timelines, but this tool is so advanced that with the right skill it can be adapted for this purpose. On the Microsoft website you can find a number of articles on creating timelines using Excel. For example, at http://www.microsoft.com/education/createtimeline.mspx there is a step-by-step description of creating a timeline approximately like the one shown in Fig. 10.

using Excel (non-linear scale)

If in Fig. 10 timeline has a non-linear scale, then a more complex method (Fig. 11) allows you to create a full-fledged timeline with a linear scale. An example of creating such a timeline is described in the lesson at: http://www.vertex42.com/ExcelArticles/create-a-timeline.html. Those who are not ready to get acquainted with the description of the methodology can simply download the Timeline Template, which is located on the same web page.

Contemporaries

OS:Windows

“Contemporaries” is at the same time a historical reference book, organized in the form of a timeline (about 700 figures of world and Russian history on one timeline). O th scale), and an editor (you can add figures and events to the feed), and a set of games for orientation in history (Fig. 12).

Rice. 12. “Timeline” mode in the “Contemporaries” project

The program was developed within the framework of the “Unified Collection of Digital Educational Resources” project and is freely distributed for non-commercial use. It can be used in the study of history, as well as humanitarian subjects - world artistic culture and literature. The organizing core of the program is the concept of time. Two modes - “Russia” and “World” - allow us to work on synchronizing historical processes and overcome the disconnection between courses in world and domestic history.

The project is distinguished by a large amount of historical information, the ability to select and combine viewing modes, and the combination of information about various historical characters and events makes it possible to organize the educational process in various subjects. The chronological tasks of the program are aimed at developing students' skills of confident orientation in time. Game modes with their inherent excitement can increase students' motivation to study subjects and their interest in disciplines. Students can establish various vertical and horizontal relationships along the lines of “person - event of the era”, “figure of national history - figure of world history”, “ancestor - descendant”.

Analysis of the events selected to characterize any historical era and their schematic images can become the basis for a discussion about the “image of the era”, the creation of creative works by students by selecting, drawing from existing samples and justifying the choice of events that characterize a given time.

The ability to edit and add new elements on the timeline (Fig. 13) allows the teacher to create a timeline as an illustration for a particular lesson.

NEO ChronoLiner

OS:Windows

The program was created within the framework of the “Unified Collection of Digital Educational Resources” project and is freely distributed for non-commercial use. "ChronoLiner" is a tool that allows you to integrate various information sources based on chronological relationships. Includes a tool for visualizing, analyzing and printing collected information.

The main module of the OS3 ChronoLiner 1.0 software package allows you to work with time lines prepared in OS3 ChronoLiner 1.0. Editor”, in which you can integrate multimedia objects into the timeline.

The program provides printing of the structure and contents of the time line. Moreover, you can print any of its representations - in the form of a scale of various types, a book or a chronological table. You can print both single time lines and various combinations of them, synchronized by time. O th scale. And with the help of special numbering of printed sheets and “reference” points on them, showing the alignment lines of adjacent pages, you can create wall posters. Depending on the needs of the subject, the teacher can select time lines from the set included in OS3 ChronoLiner 1.0 or create new ones.

The timeline can be presented in different forms: with detailed event cards (Fig. 14), with short cards with event names (Fig. 15) and in a compact form, in which each event is marked on the screen with a dot that works as a button with a tooltip. when you hover the mouse over it (Fig. 16).

The peculiarity of the program is that it provides the teacher with the opportunity to create their own timeline content files. A number of topics are already offered in a single collection, including those listed in the table.

The resource offers topics not only on history, but also on other subjects. For example, in Fig. Figure 17 shows the timeline “Geochronology - geological eras and epochs,” which helps students develop an idea of the main geological periods in the history of the Earth - from the Archean to the Cenozoic. The material includes a description of the most significant natural phenomena and geological processes for the development of the Earth's biosphere, as well as images of typical representatives of flora and fauna of various periods. This material is studied in physical geography lessons.

Mnemograph

Mnemograph is a web application that allows you to organize and manage information based on a timeline. Information can be made available only to the author or to everyone around. You can create both point events tied to a specific date and extended ones (Fig. 19). Added events can be hyperlinked, directing timeline users to information on that event that has already been published on the Internet. You can create several parallel timelines, and also add events not only from the past, but also those planned for the future. Mnemograph is both an editor and a viewer. At the time of writing this article, the Mnemograph resource was in beta testing.

Ready-made timeline projects

The products described above allow you to create fairly simple time tapes. If you are planning a complex interactive project, you will have to use some kind of multimedia creation tool, a review of which is beyond the scope of this article. Here it is more useful to make a brief overview of resources where certain timeline projects have already been implemented. By reading them, you can get ideas for presenting the material and find historical data.

Hyperhistory

An excellent resource for clarity and historical content. Temporary s Its tapes of historical figures (Figure 21), periods and events (Figures 22 and 23) plus historical maps and text make it an ideal history textbook.

The project was implemented very ascetically in terms of design and graphic refinements, but everything that is needed works.

Rice. 21. “People” mode displays personalities

Rice. 22. History mode displays time periods

Rice. 23. “Events” mode displays events by year

Timeline of major trends and events (1750-2100)

A unique resource in which historical analysis allows you to make a forecast for the future. With a very modest implementation, the project amazes with its clarity and information content.

The timeline (Fig. 24) contains many scales displaying the following factors:

Rice. 24. Timeline of major trends and events (1750-2100)

  • environmental - such as population levels and other parameters;
  • social - crime rate, social moods (periods of euphoria, anxiety, etc.);
  • technological - in particular, the time of appearance of the most important technologies (Fig. 25);

Rice. 25. Fragment of a time tape showing the periods of origin
and maturity of the most important technologies (including forecast)

  • economic - periods of recession, depression, panic in the market;
  • political - wars and armed conflicts (Fig. 26), riots, rebellions, etc.

bbc timelines

We have provided a timeline on British history (Fig. 27) to show what interactivity and beauty is provided by Flash, on the basis of which this project is implemented. The timeline covers a huge amount of historical material, yet scrolling through it is very fast and convenient. Illuminated texts, impeccable design, but this is where the advantages of the project, perhaps, end. For the resource, the event mode is selected, in which they are shown with buttons with tooltips - this is an unsuccessful form of presenting information, since it does not make it possible to trace trends. The lack of icons and symbols that complement event buttons significantly reduces the information content of the project. As a result, the user receives a high-quality design, an abundance of material, but the clarity of its presentation is minimal.

Rice. 27. British history timeline interface

Collection of timeline projects

A magnificent site where projects of time tapes from antiquity to the present day are collected. Here you can get a lot of ideas for creating a new project.

The author of the article once came up with the idea of creating a timeline showing changes in the area of countries over time. Alas, it turned out to be not new, which was discovered while writing this article. The timeline in which this idea is implemented is shown in Fig. 28 and is located at: http://www.math.yorku.ca/SCS/Gallery/images/timelines/hammond1_1200x825.jpg. The time scale goes from top to bottom.

Rice. 28. Timeline showing changes in the area of countries
over time

The figure shows that in the period after the First World War, the territory of Germany decreased, in the mid-40s it increased, and after 1945 it decreased again. The same tape clearly shows the collapse of the colonial system of Great Britain, the growth of the US area and the division of Austria into two “sleeves”... The idea was implemented perfectly! Alas, the resource exists only as a JPG file from a scanned paper original in a reduced form, and there is no full online version. Here is an idea that is still waiting to be implemented in one of the full-fledged online projects, for example based on Flash.

Since the area of a continent is a time-invariant quantity, it is possible to construct a timeline that displays changes over time in the percentage of areas in a group of neighboring countries. By the way, it is also presented on this site.

Ways of development of the peoples of Russia

Another development that is available for free on the website of the “Unified Collection of Digital Educational Resources” (Fig. 29). This timeline displays the development paths of the peoples of Russia from the 9th to the 16th centuries and contains interactive tasks. As can be seen from Fig. 30, in test mode the student needs to place on the time tape the names of the states that existed on the territory of modern Russia in the Middle Ages.

conclusions

There are a lot of tools for creating timelines - from the simplest, which basically involve automatically placing flags with events on the timeline, to very complex ones, oriented towards learning and, in addition to the editor, having a fair amount of information content. Moreover, as the analysis shows, the cost of a product depends not only on its quality, but also to a greater extent on who and within what project the product was created. Small editors distributed by commercial companies can cost a lot of money, but large-scale projects developed over decades by university teams with multi-megabyte content are supplied free of charge, for example, the educational project “Unified Collection of Educational Digital Resources.” By the way, of the products discussed in the article, three are located on this portal, including two of the most interesting in educational terms: “Contemporaries” and “OSZ ChronoLiner”. The Timeline Creator project is also supported by the online educational community and distributed absolutely free of charge.

The author of this article did not find any online editors that allow you to create more or less complex timelines. Apparently, full-fledged Web 2.0 projects, where everyone can indicate their biography and the biographies of all their relatives on the timeline, are still waiting in the wings. The resources for developing online feeds that we were able to test are still in beta testing and poorly developed.

An analysis of ready-made timelines available on the Internet for viewing shows that this topic is presented in a variety of directions and there are wonderful resources, although mostly in English. It should be noted that the visibility of a project does not always correspond to the capabilities of the technology platform on which it is implemented. A successful project is not only an engine and good design of panels and fonts, but also clarity, interesting ideas and their graphic interpretation. To create a timeline, you need to not only place the names of events along the timeline, but also select an icon for each event so that it takes up a minimum of space and is accurately associated with it. There are many implementations of timelines on the Internet, but this does not mean that there is nothing left for new developers... History is a living science: new facts appear, old ones are rethought - so new interesting timelines will continue to appear. We hope that this article will help in the development of new interesting projects.

The timeline allows you to organize the management of objects over time, and also visually displays the order in which objects follow each other.

There is a direct connection between objects in the timeline and objects in the scene editor. So, for example, when an object is selected in the timeline, the object is selected in the editor; when an object is deleted from the timeline, it is deleted from the editor and vice versa. Essentially, this is the same object, but displayed in space in the scene editor and in time in the timeline.

Using the timeline, you can change the start time of an object's appearance on the scene, as well as its duration. Using the cursor, you can set the current time in the editor, and the entire scene will be redrawn in accordance with the current time. The current time of the editor is displayed in the status bar, and the start and end times of the work area range are also displayed there.

You can manage objects using the menu, which is called up by clicking the right mouse button. You can delete an object, copy it to the clipboard, cut or paste an object from the clipboard. You can also change the order of objects by selecting the appropriate item in the menu. The “Move cursor to begin/end” items allow you to change the current time and set it equal to the time the object appears or the time it is hidden. The “Properties” menu item displays a window with object properties.

When you select an object in the timeline, an additional tab appears with the name of this object. By clicking on it, you will go to editing this object and will be able to add other objects or effects to it. In this case, the timeline will now display the contents of the current edit object. To return to editing a scene, you need to select the tab with the name of the scene (it is always the first). You can also switch to object editing mode by double-clicking on the object name in the timeline.

It is worth noting that when editing a scene or sprite, the order of objects in the timeline is reversed, i.e. The first object in the timeline is displayed last in the editor (on top of all others). At the same time, the order of effects is direct and shows in what order the filters are applied to the object.

When you double-click on one of the blocks in the timeline, the work area is selected in accordance with its appearance time and duration. You can also set the work area through the corresponding toolbar (see below), or by clicking on the time ruler in the timeline and holding the button pressed, select the required range, and then release it. Another way to manipulate a workspace is to directly manipulate its pointers. By dragging the work area's start or end pointer, you can change its position in time.

Toolbar “ Zoom tools

This toolbar allows you to change the time scale in the timeline. It contains the following elements: zoom in, zoom out, minimum zoom, smooth zoom slider. You can also set the scale to fit the work area. To do this, select a range in the timeline and click the corresponding button on the toolbar.

Toolbar “ Management tools

Contains the following elements: switching the time/frame display mode, moving the cursor to the beginning of the selected object, to the previous second, previous frame, next frame, next second and to the end of the selected object, respectively. Here you can set the beginning and end of the work area, as well as align its beginning or end with the cursor position.

Toolbar “ Blocks management

This toolbar is used to manage blocks (objects) in the timeline and allows you to align blocks in time with the cursor, and alignment is possible by the time the objects began to appear and the time they disappeared. Here you can align the selected blocks with each other so that one block follows the other immediately, or with a certain offset. This can be used when you need to create a scene in which one object replaces another sequentially or over a period of time.

In what cases may such presentation of information be appropriate?

  • Your material is biographical in nature, telling about the history of a particular phenomenon.
  • It is necessary to restore the chronology of a complex process and show the logic of its development in the events that constitute it.

Thanks to timelines, you can link information and even analytical messages already available on your resource that were published at different times on the topic or issue you have chosen. This, on the one hand, will attract a new wave of reader interest to them, on the other hand, it will further keep the visitor’s attention on the page.

We can create them using different tools - from graphic editors to plugins for popular CMS. We will look at the most popular online services.

The leader in services for creating timelines is Timeline JS. The recipe for popularity is simple: it is free and quite simple and universal, that is, it allows you to embed the result into the page of any website.

Examples of its use can be viewed directly on the main page of the service; in addition, there is also an official video tutorial in English.

To get started, click the green button in the center of the “Make a Timeline” screen. We automatically move to the instructions for creating a timeline in English.

Video instruction

To enter data, we will need a table on Google Drive. In order for it to contain all the columns necessary for Timeline JS, where we only need to enter our information, click here the “Get the Spreadsheet Template” button and get the necessary template.

In the Google Drive window that opens, click “Use this template” in the upper left corner, and a copy of it will appear in your account. In order for everything to work out for you, the developers ask that you do not delete existing columns or rename headings. Please note that only the headers, the rest is, on the contrary, demo content that needs to be replaced with your data.

Let's briefly look at the purpose of the columns in the table

First of all, you need to enter the dates of the events - the first four columns are reserved for this purpose: year, month, day and exact time. If they had any duration in time, you can also indicate the time of their end, in the same format. The next column is for indicating dates in a special format that does not correspond to the previous columns, for example: “January - February”.

Headline is the title of the event that you have linked to a specific date. Text – its brief description. Here in html format you can, for example, insert a link to materials already published on your website.

Media – link to an illustration: photo, video, point on a Google map or Twitter post. Moreover, media is displayed not just as a link, but as a fully functional material as a built-in multimedia embed element. Сredit – source, сaption – signature to it.

That's all: filling out these fields will be enough. Now the table needs to be turned into a timeline. First of all, to do this, you need to publish it through the usual Google Sheets menu “File” - “Publish on the Internet”. However, there is no need to copy the link that appears after this, just close the “Publish on the Internet” window and instead take the link from the address bar of the browser. That's what we need.

Illustration for instructions

Then we return to the service website to step 3 of the instructions: “Generate your timeline”. In the Google Spreadsheat URL field, insert a link to the table. To the right of it you can specify the desired width and height of the timeline being created, and under the “Optional settings” heading - some additional settings.

Sutori can hardly be called a resource for creating timelines in the form in which they can be made using Timeline JS. Here you simply string different types of content - from text to videos to discussions - onto a vertical axis along which the reader moves. A time reference is not required here. However, visually the project will look exactly like it is based on chronology.

What is a timeline?

Timeline is a tool for creating educational material in chronological order.

The timeline can be turned into a fascinating story that will diversify your lesson. And the use of such services as project work contributes to the development of students’ cognitive interest, critical thinking, ability to analyze, classify educational material, etc.

Timeline in education can be useful in the following cases:

1. Educational material is the history of a particular phenomenon, fact, event.
2. It is necessary to demonstrate the process technology.
3. It is necessary to illustrate the connection between certain elements of the educational material.
4. Visualize the presentation of educational material.
5. Organize project work for students.

Services for creating a timeline

Timelines can be built into electronic textbook designers (for example, iSpring Kinetics (Visuals) “Timeline”), or they can be independent online services (sites). Let's look at a number of similar free sites for creating a timeline.

Timeline JS

Timeline JS– a universal service suitable for solving a variety of educational tasks.

Example of a timeline in Timeline JS

Peculiarities:

1. Based on working with Google Drive documents; in other words, you need to have a Google account to create a timeline.
2. The final chronicle is large in size and has a modern design.
3. The service supports a large number of media formats.
4. Can be used for collaboration.
5. Completely free.

Flaws:

2. No visual editor.

How to use?

After visiting the site, you must click on the button Make a Timeline, Further - Get Spreadsheet Template and download a spreadsheet with an example. The names of existing columns cannot be deleted or renamed; you only need to substitute your data.

Picture 1.

Let's briefly describe the existing columns in the table. Let's start with one of the last columns Type. If we select the Title value, then we do not need to strictly specify the start and end times of the event. Whereas Era (era) strictly requires filling out the first eight columns. In other words, the type and purpose of the timeline will depend on the Type. Meaning of "Title" or "Era" selected once for the entire project.

Figure 2.
Figure 3.

Last column - Background– background color in six-digit format. We don't need to know this format for every color or shade. Just type the search query “Color Table” in your browser and open the first source indicating the code of any color.

Figure 4.

After finishing working on the timeline, you need to select a command "File"– “Publish online” in a Google spreadsheet. Let's copy the link that appears and return to the Timeline JS website. Select item 3 – “Copy/paste spreadsheet URL into the box below to generate your timeline. (Make sure you’ve published the spreadsheet.)” – i.e. insert a link to the timeline in this area.

Sutori

Sutori is an interactive timeline created specifically for education.

Timeline design in Sutori

Peculiarities:

1. In addition to text and images, interactive elements are available: tests (2 types), forum.
2. You can insert a large amount of text (more than 1 page).
3. Events can be grouped into small groups.
4. Supports joint projects.
5. There is a free plan.

Flaws:

1. There is no support for the Russian language.
2. In the free plan you can create only 2 groups.
3. The teacher does not see the test results.

How to work?

After registration and authorization, you will be asked to create a group or story (create a story), i.e. timeline. The story can have its own banner - a picture at the top of the page measuring 1536 x 400 pixels. To add a banner, click on the “Add banner” button and drag the image into the appropriate field from your computer or paste a link to the image from the Internet.

Figure 6.

Next, we indicate the title of the timeline (Insert a title) and a short description (white a short description...). To add timeline elements, click on the button with a big plus. The following elements will be available to us:

Figure 7.

Video and audio, like images, can either be downloaded from a computer or pasted into a link to the appropriate item on the Internet.

Heading(literally – “heading”) in this case will allow you to combine educational elements according to any criterion.

For example, the “Major battles of the Great Patriotic War” timeline may contain two Headings:
1. “Battles of the first half of the war” with such elements as “Battle of Moscow”, “Battle of Sevastopol”, “Siege of Leningrad”, etc.;
2. “Battles of the second half of the war” with such elements as “Stalingrad”, “Kursk Bulge”, “Liberation of Warsaw”, etc.

As we wrote above, the forum in this timeline can only be used within a group created on Suotri, which is not very convenient. But you can create a test for everyone. We have two types of test tasks available to us. The first of them is a task with the choice of one correct answer (Multiple choice).

Figure 8.

The second is a task to establish the correct match (Matching quiz).

Figure 9.

Tests are used for self-test– teachers cannot see the test results of students.

Timetoast

Timetoast is a classic timeline with the ability to choose a paid or free account.

Timeline design in Timetoast

Peculiarities:

1. There is a free plan.
2. Events can be combined by a time period.
3. There are two types of chronicle presentation.

Flaws:

1. There is no support for the Russian language.
2. In the free plan there is no way to get an embed code.
3. The free plan contains advertising.

How to work?

After registering and authorizing on this site, click on the button "Add timeline +" to add your chronicle. On the next page, write down the title (Title), in the status (Publish status) indicate the value “Public” - public access (Draft - draft - not available on a free account), select a category (Category) and upload a photo (Photo) by clicking on the button upload. Finally, click Create timeline.

The logic of work in this chronicle requires first creating a time period (timespan), within which there will be several events (events). For example, “Rurik Dynasty” is a time period, “Rurik”, “Igor”, “Svyatoslav” are events.

To create a time period, click on the add timespan button. Write down the title, description and indicate the start date and end date of the event (Start data, End data). Finally, click on the “Create timespan” button. The Description field is limited to 500 characters, which will allow you to add a relatively large amount of information.

To add an event, click on the corresponding button (Add event) and fill in the specified fields: title, description, date, upload an image (photo – upload). Finally, click on the “Create event” button.

Peculiarities:

1. The Chronicle is a widget in the spirit of Education 2.0.
2. Based on the publication of hyperlinks of any content.
3. Free.
4. It is possible to insert a survey.
5. The service is convenient for creating collections of links to educational materials in the form of an effective block, publishing webinars, upcoming events, etc.

Flaws:

1. There is no support for the Russian language.
2. This is more of a collection of links, rather than a full-fledged timeline.
3. The size of published events is relatively small.

How to work?

Figure 14.

The logo and image can either be downloaded from your computer or copied from an Internet link. Below are a number of more fields:

  • Show Scrolling Buttons – show scrolling buttons
  • Reverse Sort Date – reverse sorting of events
  • Hide Articles’ Date – hide dates in posts
  • Hide Articles’ Time – hide time in posts
  • Credit – author
  • Main Color – background color

Figure 15.

If we choose the first option, then we have to fill out a number of more fields and upload (from the Internet or from a computer) an image.

If we select the “Upload image from computer” option in the previous step, then we will also need to supplement the event with a number of information:

The brainchild of the Timeline JS team. Allows you to create event feeds linked to Google Maps. In terms of functionality and simplicity, it is beyond praise. Although the service is traditionally seen as a tool for creating interactive maps, it can be used to make posters or present the biography of a hero.

My personal love in the world of timeline creation services. Timelines turn out to be capacious and voluminous, because you can use photos, videos, audio, and sew up links.

Here you can switch the mode from 2D to 3D, when the reader moves chronologically deeper into the screen, and customize the appearance of the entire tape and individual timepoints. All the delights are available in the free version with one limitation - you can only create one timeline and you cannot get an embed code for embedding on a website or blog. If you don’t have enough money for a paid plan, you can register an unlimited number of emails - you don’t even need confirmation

The timeline in the Sutori service is not similar to the usual horizontal timelines. Here you string different types of content onto a vertical axis along which the reader moves from top to bottom. This can be text, photo, video or audio with a description, as well as interesting facts, polls, tests or discussions. Time intervals are customizable and depend on where on the vertical axis you press the plus button. The tool allows you to tell different media stories, but visually the project will look like it is based on a chronology.

The service allows students to create up to three timelines for free, but no one requires a grade book when registering. The interface is stylized as an old-school receiver, which can be turned into a feature of the material. The significance of events is set by the user and displayed on a scale in font size. The reader clicks on the timepoint that interests him and learns more. The illustrations are displayed on a parallel scale at the top, which is unusual. You cannot add a video or audio fragment. The result is embedded on a website or blog using an embed code.

The service is practically not used in RuNet.

The service creates time graphs based on text. You cannot add photos or other multimedia to events.

The service is similar to StoryMap JS: it also builds timelines in relation to geotags, allowing you to mark not only the date and time of an event, but also the place where it occurred. The result is a chronological presentation.

The finished story can be embedded on a website or blog using an embed code with autoplay (the user will move from point to point at intervals of 15 seconds). It is possible to save data as a CSV table, which contains only text data about location, time and event descriptions; in KML format (allows you to download the presentation for viewing in Google Maps or another mapping service) or in PDF. The service is easy to learn, it is free and well-Russianized.
