Already purchased by more than five million users. After the initial acquaintance with the devices and minor, you may want to study them more deeply, install your own applications and make additional changes without having to root, change the firmware and perform other complex movements that may interfere with the operation.

Below we will present programs just for this. They will allow you to set wallpapers suitable for the AMOLED display, provide access to FM radio, and allow you to change the functionality of the Bixby button.

  1. An AMOLED screen uses a lot of power if it displays a color other than white, and pixels turn off when displaying black, so OLED wallpapers should consist of a minimum of colors with significant areas of black. These are the wallpapers this application offers. There is a large selection of wallpapers available here that look beautiful, unobtrusive and allow the screens of these smartphones to save energy.

  2. The official list of Galaxy hardware characteristics does not indicate work with FM radio, but it is included here as part of the Snapdragon processor (with which the smartphone is sold in the United States). This chip is not even locked like on some other smartphones. The NextRadio app contains new flagship smartphones in its database, so you can download it, connect your headphones as an antenna and enjoy local radio stations without having to use up mobile data or have a cellular connection.

  3. On some Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices, Samsung has closed a loophole that allowed third-party programs to assign different functions to the Bixby digital assistant button. No need to worry because some enterprising developers have found another way to change the purpose of this button. The BixBye program does not even require launching a digital assistant to operate; you can immediately assign another function to the button.

  4. If remapping the Bixby button using the bxActions app does not work after the release of the Samsung patch, if the functionality of the BixBye program described above seems insufficient to you, then you can use this suggestion. In it, you first need to launch the Bixby digital assistant, then assign the button to another action. It all works quickly, there are many options available, you can set the action to single, double or long press the button.

    6. Click the button in the program AP and select the file from the previously unpacked archive CF-Auto-Root.

    7. Click START
    8. Waiting for a message PASS!
    9. Let's rejoice in the root!

At the moment, there is one potential method to root the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. The task is not the easiest, but quite solvable. The basis is a technique that is already effectively used in the case of the Galaxy S7 after updating to Android 7.0 Nougat.

Important: all actions performed to obtain root on the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are performed solely at your own risk, no one except you is responsible for the possible consequences.

Also, activating the superuser mode will trigger the Knox counter (Samsung Pay and some other branded applications will stop working), and the warranty terms will be reduced.

It is proposed to use special Magisk software, Odin service software and original firmware in a four-file format. We are not attaching the files yet, since we cannot guarantee that you will not turn your Galaxy S8 into a “brick” in this way (they will be provided later).

Algorithm for rooting Samsung Galaxy S8 using Magisk

    1. Download five Magisk software files and put them on a flash drive:
      1. Magisk Installer
      2. Magisk Removal Tool
      3. phh-superuser-magisk
      4. Magisk Manager
      5. Superuser phh
    2. Download the firmware in four-file format and flash it using Odin in Download mode.
    3. Turn on your smartphone and boot it up to the setup wizard, reboot again and switch to Download mode.
    4. Flash TWRP recovery using Odin. Important: after this the Knox counter “ticks”, the operation is irreversible.
    5. Go to TWRP recovery and format the data partition (Wipe -> Format Data -> Yes) and, just in case, also format Cache and Dalvick cache.
    6. That's it, now you can install Magisk and phh-superuser-magisk.
    7. Reboot your smartphone again and wait until the settings wizard starts. It is quite possible that the device will “lose” the communication module. Don't be alarmed, reboot again, everything will fall into place.
    8. Do the initial initialization and load the desktop.
    9. Now install via any file manager Magisk Manager and Superuser phh from APK.
    10. The Super User application will appear. In the settings and the “Superuser Access” section, override the “Applications and ADB” value. If you did everything correctly, you will see a message that the “Superuser” application has been granted root rights.
    11. Launch the “Magisk manager” application and similarly “give” it the rights to run as root.

After this, your Samsung Galaxy S8 will get root mode. The algorithm should also work on beta firmware versions.
