Current list of IPTV-compatible routers. Home network.

IPTV is digital television, it can be connected to both a TV and a computer, a smartphone, a media player. There are several ways to connect IP TV to, which allows any user to configure and view digital channels based on their own capabilities, just need to know how to do it correctly.

General information about the connection

Today interactive TV is a serious alternative to cable or. The quality of the broadcast completely corresponds to the modern characteristics of TVs, and the additional functionality greatly expands the possibilities of using TV content. Moreover, the interactive TV of the new generation has some advantages in terms of broadcasting or cable broadcasting - it is the best sound, a better picture. Given the capabilities of modern TVs with, in iPTV settings  on TV it makes sense. In addition, IPTV owners can use other services related to tele-content.

You can connect digital TV in any convenient way, each of which has its own nuances:

  • through the connected prefix iptv;
  • via a wireless router;
  • with the help of special applications;
  • through an Internet browser.

In most cases, the connection to the TV is done in the first two ways. The latter are suitable for various gadgets or a computer.

Features of connecting the console

The connection of the digital set-top box is not much different from. The connection to the router is via a standard Ethernet connector, and wireless tuning   via Wi-Fi. If you want or some difficulties, you can use the wire and connect it to the LAN connector.

On any prefix for IPTV there are other outputs:

  • AV for connecting to an older model TV;
  • HDMI for more modern panels;
  • USB connector (usually located at the front).

To receive digital television on a TV, there is either HDMI-exit, or AV. Connection with the prefix is carried out through the inclusion of the appropriate wire - this completes the physical connection of the prefix.

Set up the console

After connecting the console, it must be turned on. To view IPTV on the TV, a menu is displayed. Customizing software, in general, is quite simple. There is a Setup button on the remote control, after having pressed it, you need to make the following settings.

In the case of technical breakdowns, marriages or other difficulties, it is possible. If after all manipulations the device gives out errors, you can repeat the configuration, read the decoding of problems in the instruction manual or contact technical support for your provider or the manufacturer of the console itself.

Wireless connection

If the user does not want to run extra wires, then you need to familiarize yourself with how to connect a digital TV. Consider the algorithm on the example of popular TV brands.

LG

For owners of LG equipment  available wireless connection  IPTV  and broadcasting on TV digital channels  through a specially developed program SS  IPTV.   To access it, you need an Internet connection. You can install the application from USB-media or after downloading.

To download and run the program, you need to go to the Smart menu, open the Smart World tab. In the address bar, write the name SS IPTV and set the search command. When the utility is displayed in the list, it needs to be installed and then opened. Connection of interactive television to TVs of other brands, for example Philips or Samsung, is implemented by a similar algorithm of actions.

Philips

In Philips TV panels, you need to connect to the Internet by connecting to an access point (router). Then press the Home button on the remote control, open the configuration menu. In the network settings, select the "Operation mode" and set the DNS value. To connect to digital TV, it's enough to download any of the available widgets.

Samsung

To watch IPTV on the the Samsung TV, as done in the previous methods, you need to configure a connection to the Internet and install a special utility.

  1. On the remote control open the menu Smart Hub, press the "A" button. Here you need to create a recorded entry, enter the Develop login and password.
  2. Then enter the settings and open the "Development" item. In the IP address field, register 188.168.31.14, or use the alternative set 31.128.159.40.
  3. After selecting the "Application Synchronization" tab, when the process is finished, press Enter.

Now in the list of applications the user will be available nStreamPlayer utility  to watch IPTV television.

In this section, we consider possible schemes for connecting the Internet in conjunction with IPTV.

1) Connection through the switch.

  This scheme is recommended because the switch has a simple electronic circuit, which ensures high reliability of data transmission and improves the reliability of operation. In addition, the presence of the switch allows you to reduce the load on the router, since it is not involved in the transmission of the IPTV stream in the scheme in question.

2) Connection via a router.

  This scheme is not recommended because the quality of the image on the TV entirely depends on the performance of the processor router. But with this type of connection, the IPTV set-top box has the ability to access the Internet and, as a consequence, the possibility of using online services, such as online theaters, the ability to install third-party applications  including games, i.e. the potential built into the console is fully realized. Avoiding possible troubles with IPTV broadcasting is possible by purchasing a high-performance router, the recommended models can be found in our "Hardware" section.

3) Connection via a router and transmission of a TV signal via WI-FI.

  With this type of connection, all the features of the above scheme No.2 are retained, but some restrictions may be added.
  Given the peculiarities of data transfer using WI-FI, there is a significant technical limitation, namely the presence of third-party radio interference, for example WI-FI routers in your neighbors on the entrance. Their equipment may interfere with the transmitted data. As a result, the quality of broadcasting IPTV can significantly deteriorate, it will be expressed in "scattering" or fading pictures and distortion of sound. With this connection scheme, it is important to consider the presence of others WI-FI networks, as well as the performance of the router.

Some users of the "Home Network" are faced with the problem of compatibility of IPTV and home routers (routers). Those who only planAdcorp ADSL W422G connects to modern digital television using DISEL-TV technology, are asking which router or modem is better to choose for IPTV? In order to find out, we will clarify what is required from the device for working with IP TV.

IPTV works through the so-called. multicast - broadcast data transmission. When viewing IPTV via ADSL modem or Ethernet router, to which several computers are connected, the video stream will go to all computers (roughly speaking, the "bulbs" on the router will flash in front of the ports of all computers). This method of data transmission has some features that can make it difficult or impossible to use it.

First, you need IGMP support on the router itself. Secondly, to transfer IPTV stream via Wi-Fi, the router must somehow support multicast over WiFi. In addition, when viewing an IPTV stream, older models Wi-Fi dots  Access and routers may not be able to cope with the load.

The solution to the problem may be to replace the router with a more modern one, with full support. This table contains information from open sources and based on user feedback on the compatibility of modern routers with IPTV technology (in particular, DISEL-TV).

If you plan to connect STB (set-top-box, receiver for receiving digital TV on a conventional TV) via the router or access point, you need to make sure that the device supports STB connection. As a rule, you can not connect the STB to the routers that transmit IPTV through UDP-to-HTTP proxying. All these features must be taken into account in advance when choosing a subscriber equipment (IPTV router).

Support for IPTV in routers of different models

All information about LAN routers and WiFI points  Access with IP-TV support was collected in the summary table below. If you need to pick uprouter for IPTV, then you can see the list of devices and their characteristics in the table below. All information on the operation of IP-TV on specific models of routers is collected on the basis of user feedback.

Conventional signs: "+" is supported, "-" is not supported, "±" - is unstable, "?" Or empty field is not present. Designation of video quality: SD - standard video quality, HD - high definition video. Support "STB" - set-top-box of the device means the ability to connect to a router of a conventional TV through the receiver; If information about STB support is not specified, then support is not claimed or tested.

The table of routers with IP-TV support is updated on June 28, 2015.

Many use digital television provided by various Internet providers. But few for one reason or another have more than one TV set-top box. What to do if you want to watch your favorite channel, if the TV is busy and for a long time? The answer is in this article.

  On moving to a new place of residence, the first thing to do was connect the Internet package and interactive television from Rostelecom.
  Rostelecom employees put their favorite router Sagemcom [email protected]  and TV prefix Motorola VIP1003.
  The connection scheme was initially the following:

On the router, the first of the four available LAN ports was configured as a WAN, the second by a bridge (let's say, a through channel between the first and second ports), and the Internet was distributed to the third and fourth ports. The first port was connected with a cable coming from the provider, the second one had a set-top box, and the third and fourth ports were occupied by two desktop computers.

Such a solution had one very serious drawback: if the router was hanging, then the television also fell off. It was required to reboot the router and wait a minute before the connection was established.

After another hang of the router as an experiment, the TV set-top box was connected to the network through the switch, bypassing the router:

Needless to say, that television is working well?

One evening, he switched on the National Geographic channel, and there the transmission of Mega-factories began. I wanted to see this show, but I was kicked out, as my grandmother and grandfather watched the next "Mentovsky" TV series on NTV.
  Prefix in the house so far only one, and you want to see an interesting channel. What to do? The decision came immediately: "What if you try to set up digital TV on your laptop?"

Unfortunately, tP-Link router  WR842ND, bought in return for the rosteleukovsky router that was handed over, turned out to be the first revision and the IGMP protocol does not support it. Already upset, but found the program IP-TV Player and optimized for North-Caucasian Rostelecom assembly DISEL-TV Player on the basis of the original version IP-TV Player.

DISEL-TV Player has ready-made playlists adapted for local Rostelecom. Format of playlists m3u.

Downloaded and installed DISEL-TV Player. By analogy with the prefix I connected the laptop to one free port of the switch.
  The DHCP network card received the following settings:

As you can see, unlike PPPoE, the subnet mask is completely different. That's why you need IGMP protocol support with a router, setting up the router's ports by a bridge or switching through a switch.

I chose the right network in the player settings ...

And IP-TV has earned:

I was very surprised when even Playboy was activated, although the 18+ channel package was not connected to me.

Even a login with a password was not needed.
  Voice-over: it is interesting, login and password is needed only for the "interactive" capabilities of the console?

And then again I ran into trouble: having two parallel connections, the computer gets confused, where it has the Internet, and stops opening the pages.

By tyka's method, he determined that the television is really far and deep, which IP-address is hammered into the network settings. You can specify for example 192.168.137.1/255.255.255.0. The local network will no longer be defined as a home network, and the Internet connection will again become available.

Do not forget to select the network in the player settings again.

If the laptop lacks network devices, then to watch the television on desktop computer  you need a second network card.

The final connection scheme is as follows:

Red indicates the wires needed to watch television on the laptop and desktop computer.

And one more fly in the ointment (concerning Stavropol Rostelecom): If you include the same channel on the computer and on the console, and then close the player or switch to another channel, then the TV on the console will hang until the channel is resumed or it will drop itself in a minute just me.

Recently began to pick the topic further.
  Found the program ProgDVB.
This program  is designed for viewing Internet, satellite and IP-TV. There are paid and free versions. I did a free ProgDVB 7.
  The main possible perhaps a very significant difference is the impossibility of recording a video stream in a free version.
  Using it, I scanned the range of Rostelecom TV addresses.

First start:

Press Channel list -\u003e Blind search (drive a blind search), drive a range of addresses and ports, click Start:

Attention! Scanning addresses depending on the specified range can take a very long time!
  I set the approximate range of addresses from the data from the finished playlist, taken from IP-TV Player.

The whole range of 224.1.1.0 - 224.1.255.255 did not scan, because during the night the scan managed to reach 224.1.25. *, And the last detected channel had the address 224.1.2.254.

In total, 264 channels are found on the list, including 2 radio stations (Love Radio and Radio of Russia), several identifiable but non-working channels, several duplicated channels and a number of channels in foreign languages (English, French, and Korean).
  Then I can scan more.

On the fragment of the playlist screen, you can see 2 radio stations, completely repeating channels, as well as the same channel, but broadcast in different regions:

As it turned out, it happens and such (do not forget to put in the settings of ProgDVB, otherwise on such channels by default the English track will be included):

On the channel Amedia Premium HD are also available and connected subtitles in Russian.

If your television is broadcast by a multicast, then you can try to set up television on your computer. You will need to download the original version of IP-TV  Player and get playlists from your provider (you probably will find them on the Web) or generate them yourself using ProgDVB.

Thank you for attention. I hope this information was useful to someone.

Before you configure IPTV, you must download the installation file for the program. If the file was downloaded earlier, you need to make sure that when you install the program you have an active Internet connection, otherwise you will not be able to use the automatic settings provided by the provider.

Installing the player

The downloaded installation file must be opened, the installer window will appear. You need to select Russian language and click OK. Then you will read the welcome message from the installation program and click "Next". You will see a list of additional services that you can install, but it's better to abandon any additional services by default. You need to select "Settings" and remove all the checkboxes opposite the additional services. Then you need to click "Next". Now you will see a list of programs that should be installed by default. It:

  • IP TV Player - how to configure it, you will read below;
  • videoLAN modules;
  • shortcut in the main menu;
  • shortcut on the desktop.

If all checkboxes are checked, you can click "Next". Now you need to select the folder where you need to install the player. If you do not agree with the proposed path by default, click "Browse". Then you need to click "Install" and wait until the program is installed. As a result of the successful completion of the installation, a corresponding message will appear, and then click "Finish".

Setting the player

After the program is installed, it must be configured. To do this, launch IP TV Plaуer from the desktop or from the Start menu. You will be asked to choose a package, for example, basic, but it all depends on your situation. When you select the package, click OK. The player window starts. If everything works, the channels are switched, then no additional settings are needed. Now you know how to set up IPTV. But if no channels have appeared, there may be several reasons for this.

First, the network card must be registered in the settings, which is connected to your provider's Ethernet network. However, you may have several network cards, while the program automatically selects the very first network card.

Secondly, the channels may not appear due to a working VPN connection, which can also be perceived by the player as a network interface. In this case, the VPN connection from above local Area Networks  do not need to disconnect. It's all about choosing a network interface. To find out the IP address network card, you can open the "Local Connection Status" or the command line  enter ipconfig. Remember the address of your IP-card. Then you need to go to general settings  its player and check with what is written there. The address must match what was written on the command line, if it is not, change and restart the player. If the player still does not work, does not display the channels, then you need to get to the advanced settings and check the address of the channel list. You also need to make sure that this list is automatically updated.

Player on TV

Now let's look at how to set up IPTV on the TV. It all depends on the brand and model of the TV, but in general, the TV must have software and a connection to Ethernet or Wi-Fi router. If your TV does not have its own software, then all settings are made through a special media player, which will support the broadcast of IPTV.
